Calve Cooper

Rev. Calve Cooper, age 82, of Redfield passed on, Tuesday, June 9, 2020. He was born December 21, 1937, in Prattsville, AR to Levi and Philistine Lambert Cooper. Calve attended school at AA Wilson High School in Malvern, AR.

He accepted Christ at an early age at the Davis Creek Baptist Church, Prattsville, AR. He served as President of the Joyful Singers and as a deacon. On Easter Sunday, April 1981, Calve accepted his call to the ministry of preaching. During his pastorage, he served Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Grapevine, AR, for 35 years and Shiloh Baptist Church, Sheridan, AR, for 23 years. Rev. Cooper served as the Moderator for the Jefferson Spring District for 24 years. In 1990, he received an honorary doctorate degree from Arkansas Baptist College.

Rev. Cooper held many jobs during his career, including Brown Furniture Company, and Colony Furniture. He also was a supervisor for Klean Cleaning Company for many years before starting his own cleaning service, Consolidated Janitorial Service. He worked for Miller Funeral Home as well as Hubble Funeral Home for many years. He along with his son, Jeff, ran a Bus Company.

Those completing the journey before him include his parents, Levi and Philistine Lambert Cooper; two daughters, Erica and Chandra Cooper; two sisters, Cloria Cooper Fletcher, and Palistine Cooper; one grandson, Jeffery Antwan Cooper.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Lula Jeanne Jones Cooper of Redfield; his son, Jeffrey (Alfreda) Cooper of Redfield; his daughter, Dedire (Kabsha) Fisher of Jacksonville, FL; six grandchildren, Shericka (Jeff) Buckner, Shante Cooper, Trey Cooper, Allie Cooper, Damien and Tekyah Fisher; one great-grandson, Reece Dedman; siblings, Bishop Alcine (Jeanette) Cooper, Wilbur (Flutie) Cooper, Flossie Walker, Rosetta (Henry Louis) Junior, and Elizabeth( Secre) Mcnu*tt; a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and extended family and friends will also miss him in love.

A walk-through visitation will be held on Friday, June 19, 2020 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Davis Creek Baptist Church, Prattsville, AR. Funeral service will be 11:00 PM, Saturday, June 20, 2020, at Happy Home Baptist Church, 3215 AR-365, Redfield, AR. Burial will follow in Philadelphia Cemetery, Prattsville, AR.

Obert Davis

Obert Odell Davis of Grapevine, Arkansas was born May 28, 1933 in Sheridan, Arkansas, the son of the late Roy Eugene Davis and Alta Jane Fitzsimmons Davis. He was of the Baptist faith and had served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was retired from the Cotton Belt Railroad. Obert enjoyed gardening, bee keeping, and raising goats. He also was a big fan and supporter of local softball teams.

Mr. Davis died Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at Hospice Home Care in Little Rock at the age of 87.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Theda Nell Swilling Davis; daughter, Melissa Davis, son, Jeffery Davis; brothers, Vernon Davis, Truman Davis of Pine Bluff; sisters, Helen Plunkett and Marquita Wallace.

Survivors: son, Randy and wife Tammy Davis of Grapevine; daughter, Amber Davis of North Little Rock; sisters, Naomi DeMoss of Pine Bluff and Doris Jean (Jimmy Lee) Crossett of Grapevine; grandchildren, Randi Carol(Jon) Ashcraft of Grapevine, Martin Davis of Golden, Colorado and Zachery Davis (Lennon) of Little Rock; great grandchildren, Bailey, Jadyn, and Ethan Ashcraft.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Friday, June 19, 2020, at Grapevine Cemetery, Grapevine, Arkansas, with his nephew, Bro. Don Plunkett officiating. Visitation is Thursday, 3:00-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Clifton Lewis Jr.

Clifton Lewis Jr., 83, native of Pine Bluff, AR, answered the call home on April 13, 2020, in Chicago, Illinois.

He was born on August 31, 1936, to Clifton and Luzia Lewis Sr. in Pine Bluff AR. Clifton attended Merrill high school and was a graduate of 1955. He married Geraldine Barsh on October 12, 1956, they had two children Reginald A. and Patrice V. Lewis.

A grave side service will be June 20, 2020. at 10 AM at Forest lawn cemetery in care of PK Miller.

Corey Walker Sr.

Mr. Corey Lamont Walker, Sr., 44, of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away Friday, June 5, 2020. He was born June 11, 1975, in Pine Bluff, AR to the late Larry Ware and Brenda Evans.

He leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Tamara (Bell) Walker of Little Rock, AR; sons, Ke’Aunte Walker, Corey Walker, Jr., and Cameron Neal, all of Pine Bluff, AR; brother, Sherrodick McDaniel of Fort Worth, Texas; sisters, Derrikka D.
